Year 6 Leadership

“"To lead is to inspire others to believe in their own potential."”

Each Year 6 student plays an important role in leading by example, modelling our values and contributing positively to the life of the school. At Our Lady of the Rosary, leadership is part of everyday school life. We believe that every Year 6 student is a leader, this is lived out through both formal roles and daily actions within the school community.

LEADERSHIP IN ACTION

School Captains
Our School Captains are the senior student leaders of the school. They represent OLOR at significant events such as the ANZAC Dawn Service and visits to Parliament House, lead weekly assemblies, and act as role models for all students. They inspire others, promote a positive school culture, and acknowledge the many people who contribute to our community.

Vice Captains
Working closely with the School Captains, our Vice Captains support leadership across the school. They assist in running assemblies, represent the school at events, and model respectful, responsible behaviour. They play an important role in encouraging students and contributing to the overall life of the school.

Student Representative Council (SRC)
The SRC provides students with a voice in school life. Representatives meet regularly with the Assistant Principal to share ideas and contribute to school improvement initiatives. They collaborate across year levels and assist with school events, helping to build a strong and connected community.

Sport Captains (Colour House Captains)
Our Sport Captains lead their Colour Houses and play a key role in fostering school spirit. They organise and lead their teams during events such as the Athletics and Swimming Carnivals, encourage participation, and support the smooth running of sporting activities. They also assist with equipment and promote teamwork and wellbeing through sport.

Liturgy Team
The Liturgy Team supports the spiritual life of the school. They assist in preparing and leading liturgies and Masses, promote social justice initiatives such as Project Compassion, and help foster our Mercy values. They also contribute to peer support activities and wellbeing initiatives across the school.

Sustainability Team
The Sustainability Team cares for our environment and encourages responsible practices within the school. Students take an active role in maintaining gardens, managing recycling, and promoting sustainability initiatives, helping to build awareness and responsibility for our shared environment.

Library Team
The Library Team supports the day-to-day running of the library and helps foster a love of reading. They assist with organising books, maintaining the space, and supporting initiatives such as Book Week, contributing to a welcoming and engaging learning environment.

Technology Team
The Technology Team plays an important role in supporting school events and daily operations. They manage audio-visual equipment for assemblies, Masses and presentations, assist teachers and students with technology, and help maintain and care for school devices and systems.

Creative Arts Team
The Creative Arts Team brings creativity and expression to school life. They assist with art displays, support classroom activities, contribute ideas for creative projects, and help with major events such as the school concert and Christmas Carols, enriching the cultural life of the school.

Through these opportunities, students grow in confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of service, learning to lead with compassion and integrity.
