Facilities

We have excellent facilities that were extensively renovated in 2010.  Fourteen classrooms are all well resourced, each with an IWB, sink area, laptops and ipads enabling an effective learning and teaching environment.

All classrooms face onto an internal library and mezzanine which are the hub of the school.  Additionally we have a dedicated music and art room with additional office/small teaching rooms for our EAL teacher and Special Needs team, internal and external toilets, office area, staffroom and counsellor’s office.

Our Infants Playground has been renovated to include new areas encouraging imaginative play, communication and exploration.

Cathedral

The school is fortunate to be situated on the same site as the Cathedral for our Broken Bay Diocese enabling a close link between the school and the Parish community, with the children having the opportunity to attend mass each week and being close to Diocesan liturgical events.

Library

Our library is a large attractive and busy space, centrally located in the middle of the school with all classrooms in easy access. Students have a formal library lesson each week and can visit during class and lunchtime to borrow books, read, research and play games.

Playgrounds

Our Infant Courtyard playground is where our Kindergarten and Year 1 students gather and play. In 2009, a new play equipment area was installed and is very popular. In 2014, this area wrnt through a major refurbishment developing increased interactive explorative areas, extra seating and paved areas.

The lower playground, which is flanked by a reserve, was refurbished in 2012 with funds raised by our P&F Association.  It now includes an amphitheatre area to seat 100, well-appointed formal play equipment, creative play structures and a fenced grass area.  In the large covered undercroft area there are marked handball courts and extra seating.

There is also a large grassed oval next to The Light of Christ Centre where students can run and play ball games. It enables student to develop a variety of skills while encouraging free and active play.

The Light of Christ Centre

We share The Light of Christ Centre with St Leo’s College.  There are mini and full size basketball courts within and our PE classes are held here.

Weekly whole school assemblies and grade assemblies are held in our OLOR end.  There is a formal stage and lighting potential in the St Leo’s end and we utilize these facilities for our annual concert.

OOSH

CatholicCare provides a service of Out of School Hours for the OLOR community. They cater for children aged 5 to 12 years. Staff  create a safe environment where children can participate in a wide range of recreational experiences that are active, fun and creative.

The centre runs from 7am – 8.30am when children are walked to the school playground. In the afternoon the children are collected from the school at 3pm and can remain at the centre until 6pm.

Canteen

Our canteen is managed by Mrs Carmel Daniels. The canteen is open on Thursdays and Fridays for morning tea and lunch and at lunchtime only for drinks and ice blocks on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Information on ordering school lunches is available under the School Community tab.
